After a series of 3D printing and laser cutting projects, I miss the unplanned, freehand style of creating I used to have when I was drawing, which was always such a stress reliever. So, for this assignment, I’ve decided to try engraving with acrylic and a stitching awl to see what kind of outcome it will bring.
In the creative process, I came across the work of Spanish artist Arturo Álvarez, and I really admire how he uses light and shadow to showcase his sculptures. It made me think about trying out light and shadow with this acrylic engraving to see what kinds of shadow patterns the engraved textures might produce.
